Great coffee shouldn’t depend on a café, a countertop machine, or a long queue. With a travel French press, you can brew rich, full-bodied coffee at your desk, at a campsite, or in the car. All you need is the right method.
Here’s how to get a perfect cup in 5 steps, using the My Zesty Home 15oz Insulated Travel French Press.
Five steps to brew, then enjoy.
What You’ll Need
• Your 15oz Travel French Press mug
• 2 heaping tablespoons of coarsely ground coffee
• About 12 oz (350 ml) of hot water, or enough to sit roughly an inch below the rim so the plunger has room
• A timer (your phone works)
Step 1: Twist to Unlock and Unscrew the Lid
Twist the lid to unlock it, then unscrew it and lift out the plunger. Set it aside while you prep your coffee.
Step 2: Add Coarse Ground Coffee
Add 2 heaping tablespoons of coarse ground coffee. Grind size matters more than most people think. Coarse, similar to breadcrumbs, gives a smooth, full-bodied cup. Too fine and it turns bitter and muddy. Too coarse and it tastes weak. If you buy pre-ground, look for “French press” or “coarse” on the label.
Step 3: Pour Hot Water (195–205°F)
Boiling water scorches coffee, so aim for 195–205°F (90–96°C). No thermometer? Boil the water, then let it rest for about 30 seconds. Pour slowly, making sure all the grounds are saturated, and stop about an inch below the rim.
Step 4: Brew for 3 Minutes
Put the lid back on (plunger up) and set a timer for 3 minutes. If you like a bolder cup, go to 4 minutes.
Step 5: Press the Plunger Slowly
Press down slowly and steadily. Forcing it can push fine grounds through and make the cup gritty.
Then Sit Back and Enjoy
Drink straight from your travel mug anywhere, anytime, or pour it into your favorite coffee mug. Thanks to the double-walled, vacuum-sealed design, your coffee stays hot for up to 4 hours, and customers love how long it holds heat, with many saying it stays hot well beyond the first few hours.

• Sleek black finish. Looks good on a desk and on a trail.

Easy Cleanup: Keep Your Press Fresh
• Hand wash only. This mug is not dishwasher safe. Washing by hand protects the finish and the sealing components.
• Use non-abrasive cleaners. Skip scouring pads and harsh chemicals, which can scratch or damage the surface.
• Deep clean when needed. To remove built-up coffee oils, take apart the strainer and filter and soak them overnight in warm, soapy water.
• Tackle oily residue. Put a small amount of white vinegar on a soft cloth and gently rub in circular motions to break down buildup and restore the shine.
Bonus Tips for a Better Cup
• Use fresh beans. Coffee tastes best within a few weeks of roasting.
• Pre-warm your mug with a splash of hot water before brewing. The insulation will hold the heat even longer.
• Rinse right after use so old coffee oils don’t build up and turn your next cup bitter.
• Adjust the ratio to taste. Add or remove half a tablespoon of coffee until it’s just right.
Why a French Press?
Unlike pods or instant coffee, a French press keeps the natural oils in your coffee, giving you a richer flavor and fuller body. With an insulated travel version, you get that café-quality cup wherever the day takes you.
